LIC Flea & Food, the newest of the outdoor summertime markets, opens its gates this weekend in Long Island City. Set in the 24,000 square foot parking lot at the corner of 46th Avenue and 5th Street, the weekly market will bring over 90 food and goods vendors to the 'hood from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays until at least October, possibly November, weather-permitting.

Start your browsing with an espresso from Sweetleaf and a Mishmosh Cookie (potato chips, pretzels, chocolate chunks, peanut butter chips, hazelnuts, and marshmallows) from New Yawk Baking Co. then browse through custom and vintage furniture and home goods by Relevant Furniture; snap up some dapper neckwear at Steven Tibaudo Bowties; or pick up some mechanical man-inspired apparel from Vintage Robot.

For dedicated diners, Italian-inspired dishes from Manducatis Rustica and Tastaccio will be on hand, as will bites from M. Wells Dinette and JJs Asian Fusion and other area restaurants.

Getting to the site won't be difficult as shuttle buses run between the Long Island City stop on the East River Ferry and the market site on both days, plus the 7, E and G trains all stop nearby.
