Dreams of swigging beers alongside quinoa bowls inside a place called Mars Bar are now officially dead. The skeletal remains of the former East 1st Street dive—or, really, the space next door—that were reportedly reopening in some capacity will now exclusively dispense expensive juice instead of cheap beers, reports Bowery Boogie. And so it goes.

In a few weeks, an organic cafe called NatureEs will begin serving gluten, dairy, meat and fun-free items inside the now sun-lit space, which is on the ground floor of the new "Jupiter 21" luxury rental building. Plans for a downstairs lounge serving alcohol have either been delayed or abandoned, despite the space holding a full liquor license. Instead, there'll be some kind of spa offering massages and facials—free chemical peels of your soul included upon entry.
