I used to think I was special, living only a few blocks from Matt and Emily Hyland's spectacular Clinton Hill eatery Emily. It's not often you count a spot with some of the city's best pizza and burgers as a neighbor, after all. But my singularity was dulled once Emmy Squared debuted in Williamsburg last year, and now Manhattanites get to share my joy—an Emily outpost is set to open in the West Village next month.

As first reported by Grub Street, the Hylands are aiming to open their first Manhattan iteration of Emily in the old Downing Street Blue Ribbon Bakery space on June 7th. Diners can likely expect the same fare offered at the OG Emily, where highlights include the stellar Colony pizza—sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, pickled jalapeños, and honey—and the signature Emily pie, made with mozzarella, pistachios, truffle sottocenere and honey. Grub Street also suspects curly fries might be on the menu.

And though it's not clear whether or not Emmy Squared's square pies will also be available, Manhattan diners will certainly be able to experience Emily's mind blowing burger, where moist dry aged beef, cheddar, and sauteed onions soak into a pretzel bun. West Village residents have no idea what's about to hit them, or how many napkins they'll need.
