A large scale Oktoberfest celebration unfolds this weekend at Zum Schneider's Munich on the East River party beneath a gigantic temporary tent on East 23rd Street. Beneath, seating for 1,000 revelers, Oktobefest beers—like HB Traunstein Festbier and Paulaner Oktoberfest Marzen—on tap, live music and delicious foodstuffs. Roasted chicken and pork shanks, wursts, pretzels, potato salads and other Deutschland fare will be available for purchase in addition to Liter steins of beer for $18. The fete rages Friday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday/Sunday from noon to 10 p.m. Online ticket sales are sold out but they'll be offering $25 tickets at the door throughout the day. Note that the event is cash only.

To celebrate its very special second birthday, Southeast Asian spot Pig & Khao is throwing a huge party filled with food, an open bar and a performance by Uncle Majic, the Hip Hop Magician & Mellow “The Clown.” The party unfolds on Sunday from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m., where $40 gets you unlimited suckling pig lechon, sides and an open bar of draft beer—oh, and popcorn seasoned with the restaurant's proprietary spice mix, as befitting the carnival theme.

Also on Sunday, NY Magazine's food site Grub Street takes over the Hester Street Fair with over 75 restaurants and vendors dishing up special treats outdoors in the park. The Grub Street Food Festival features folks like Roberta's, Delaney Barbecue, Daly Pie, Desi Food Truck, Aux Epices, Sticky's Finger Joint and loads of others for an afternoon of feasting al fresco. There's also a beer garden with $5 brews and a food-themed nine-hole mini golf course on site.
