We know there's still plenty of eating to do in September, but there are already a few October events that Gothamist has discovered coming down the pike.

October 4th -- Time Out New York's annual event celebrating the release of their Eating & Drinking 2005 guide, featuring tastings from more than 35 of Time Out New York's favorite restaurants. Tickets are $75 and admission includes a copy of the Eating & Drinking 2005 guide. Buy 6 tickets and get the 7th ticket free! Part of the proceeds from all tickets sales will be donated to Food Bank For New York City. The celebration will be held from 6:30-9:30pm at Splashlight Studios, 529 W 35th Street, between Tenth and Eleventh Avenues. Visit this link for more information.

October 6 -- Great Match: Wine & Tapas. This year marks the 11th anniversary of the largest showcase of Spanish wines in the U.S., and to celebrate, more than 200 wines representing many of Spain’s 63 wine producing regions will be available for tasting from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Metropolitan Pavilion. New York area chefs will provide a variety of Spanish tapas, both in the traditional Spanish style, and with a non-traditional twist. As part of the celebration, ten leading New York City restaurants will offer specialized tasting menus, select Spanish wines-by-the-glass and offer special bottle promotions in honor of Spanish Wine Week. Admission to the event is $50 per person in advance; $60 at the door. One hundred percent of the proceeds will go to help support City Harvest. For reservations, visit www.greatmatch.org. For additional information, call 866-849-8703.

The entire month of October is New York Wines and Dines month, a monthlong celebration New York's finest wines and cuisine. Throughout October, participating restaurants will present special recipes (and in some cases offer special prix fixe) for "New York Cuisine" menus with appetizers, main courses, and desserts created with agricultural products grown, raised, caught or processed in New York-and paired with New York wines. Visit www.newyorkwinesanddines.org for participating restaurants, wineries, wine stores, retailers, and recipes.
