According to data from Pinpoint Demographics, New York City is number one for restaurants per capita [pdf]. Of the top ten zip codes for most restaurants per capita in the country, six were in New York, with TriBeCa in first, Midtown second and Midtown East in third. SoHo and the West Village were also on the list, and NoHo, Greenwich Village and Gramercy Park tied for ninth. Pinpoint writes, "Long famous for its restaurant culture, factors such as New Yorkers' affluence, diversity and lifestyle may also influence their desire to eat out." Or maybe it's just that so many of us use our kitchens as closets.
