Tudor City—the exclusive apartment complex and community situated on a granite cliff between 1st and 2nd Avenues and 40th and 43rd Streets—has been without a local restaurant within its historic walls since Italian restaurant Convivio shuttered in 2011. Taking over the long dormant space will be Tudor City Steakhouse, a "next generation" steakhouse by Sylvan Hospitality, a debut restaurant group run by Mirso and John Lekic.

A trio of chefs have been brought on board for the opening, including Joaquin Linares, who'll be in charge of dry aging the prime steaks like the porterhouse for two ($46.95 per person) and rib eye steak ($49.95), along with a veal chop ($42.95) and loin lamb chops ($44.95), served with sauces like barolo wine and truffle butter.

The ceviche section will be excuted by Adrian Leon, an expert in South American fare, who will also execute the lobster risotto ($26.95), half roasted chicken ($26.95), and other poultry, pasta and seafood dishes.

Finally, Dominican Republic native Bruni Bueno will handle dessert, with an emphasis on cheesecake.

If the meaty fare isn't enough to entice you, perhaps the storied space will pique your interest. Housed at 45 Tudor City Place, the restaurant takes over the former site of the original Tudor City Restaurant, which opened in 1928 and is pictured here in 1939. When construction on the entire building began in 1927, Tudor City was considered the first residential skyscraper complex in the world and today remains distinctive for its secluded enclave overlooking the East River and the nearby United Nations.

The space opens for dinner beginning on Friday.
