Acclaimed French chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten's fantastical bi-level homage to Southeast Asian street food Spice Market enters the clubstaurant history books when it closes at the end of September. The restaurant's landlord more or less gave the restaurant the boot, Eater reports, with the idea of offering the space to some kind of "experiential retail" brand. In 2016 MePa, clothes wear you.

Vongerichten hopes to "recreate this dream restaurant" and co-owner Phil Suarez hinted that "it's not over till it's over." Still, the 12-year-old eatery has no concrete plans to relocate, or at least have not made these plans public. The duo currently have their hands full opening a vegetarian restaurant, abcV, next month.

The final night at Spice Market will be September 29th, so there's time for a few more parties with Post food critics before the end.
