Prolific orbed meat-makers The Meatball Shop roll into Hell's Kitchen on Wednesday with the debut of their seventh restaurant. With the new location comes a new concept: a neighboring bar called The Sidepiece that will serve cocktails and a separate menu.
Meatballs are still part of the program, but they're being employed here outside Meatball Shop's create your own adventure menu. The balls are used in dishes like Meatball Fondue, an Alpine Swiss cheese version of the dish with mini chicken meatballs, apples, broccoli, bread, bacon and blocks of mozzarella cheese to get the melted cheese into your mouth.
They're also topping nachos with crumbled pork meatballs and breaking down the balls even more to make sloppy joe sliders. Other highlights: Gramercy Tavern vet Rene Hidalgo's cocktails and a brand-new Banana Split that'll supplement the typical ice cream sandwich offerings at The Meatball Shop.
