On glorious days like this, Gothamist will think about ice cream (ice cream is also a topic for thought on crummy days, but that's another story for another time). A friend mentioned a new ice creamery that opened up in the West Village, called Mary's Dairy and suggested we check it out. Then, wouldn't you know it, New York magazine writes about it. While New York focused on the flavors like White Callebaut Chocolate and Pistachio Halvah, Tien went and tried out what Gothamist thinks the big ticket item is: Two scoops of ice cream on a Krispy Kreme donut. Yes, it's like heaven and hell on a plate at once. And he managed to make it home okay! Check out his post with pictures, including the one on the left. At first Gothamist couldn't figured out what the thing behind the ice cream was (trashcan that looks like a ice cream crown, with a black cloth cosy on top?), but Tien explained it was an ice cream cone bar stool. Ahhh.

The Times says the Mary's Dairy fat-free ice cream, Likity Lite, doesn't have the chalky taste of other fat-free ice creams. But they don't mention there are t-shirts and tank tops that say "Mamacita" and "Leave Me Alone" for sale.
