Two very important things are happening next week: the ceaseless, exhausting presidential election is finally ending and, more importantly, Snoop Dogg and Martha Stewart's cooking show is premiering on VH1.
Snoop and Martha, who are old pals, star in Martha and Snoop's Potluck Dinner Party, a cooking show/dinner party hybrid where the pair complete to see who can cook up the best dishes. The show, which premieres on VH1 tomorrow at 10 p.m., promises to be a "half-baked evening of cocktails, cooking, conversation and fun where nothing is off limits" and will feature a bevy of guest stars including DJ Khaled and 50 Cent.
Despite its name, the show won't actually be a potluck—Stewart and Snoop will cook all the dishes themselves in side-by-side, his-and-hers kitchens. Snoop's is gold and purple; Stewart's is almost entirely white. On the first episode, they'll be making fried chicken.
The pair first cooked together in 2008 when Snoop appeared on Stewart's former show, Martha and helped her make mashed potatoes. In a 2009 episode, they made special Christmas brownies. And in an adorable 2014 Reddit AMA, Stewart admitted she wished she were "closer friends" with Snoop. Finally, their friendship has come to fruition, and it's fucking beautiful.
"It's right for the time, I think, when we do need a little bit of levity in our lives because of what's going on," Stewart told the Times about the show. By "what's going on," she of course meant the election and the howling sense of terror inside every American's chest.
Martha and Snoop's Potluck Dinner Party premieres Monday, November 7th at 10 p.m. on VH1.
