It's time once more to celebrate soft, sweet cookies of the French variety at Thursday's 5th annual Macaron Day in NYC! Francois Payard—who brought the annual celebration over from his native country—along with other patisseries in Manhattan, Brooklyn and beyond will be offering free macarons to customers with the special password ("Macaron Day NYC"). It also happens to be the first day of spring. Hoo-RAY!

Fifteen participating outlets will be doling out one pastel cookie to each customer who asks, with a portion of all further macaron sales benefitting City Harvest. Stalwarts Epicerie Boulud, Bouchon Bakery and Mille-Feuille are all on the so-called "Macaron Crawl," in addition to newcomer Sugar & Plumm, dessert bar Spot and Chantilly in Bronxville. Francois Payard will also be debuting their special springtime macaron: Orange Blossom.

Think you can hit 'em all in one day? Use the map below to help plan your route. May the weather be ever in your favor.
