Labor day weekend is typically accompanied by a spate of end-of-summer violence, but they like to get started early in Canarsie, Brooklyn, where one man is dead and another one wounded following an afternoon shooting Wednesday. 41-year-old Michael Daley was fixing his car radio behind his home when he was shot several times in the chest. His landlord, whose name has not yet been released, was also shot. Neighbors tell the Daily News it was over a grill.

The AP reports that Daley was found shot several times in the chest, and his landlord, who was making some repairs, was shot in the arm, shoulder and in the groin. But he's in stable condition at Brookdale. As of this afternoon, no arrests have been made, and it's unclear if the dissatisfied grill owner would now consider things "even."
