It's Ice Cream Month (though, let's face it, when is it not Ice Cream Month?), and this Saturday the Hester Street Fair is hosting its annual Ice Cream Social, a beloved event where ice cream vendors battle it out for a place in your hearts/stomachs. And as an active citizen, you'll also get to vote.

For $10, a visitor to the Ice Cream Social will get 2 ounces of each of the five vendors' "flavor of the day," and a vote on which one reigns supreme. Votes will be tallied at 4:30 p.m. and the winner announced at 5 p.m. (You can also have our own ice cream party by trying some of our faves around town.)

Here's a rundown of the contenders, courtesy of the Hester Street Fair:

Ube ice cream, doughnut sandwiches, fruity pebble toppings… Stax ice cream is like a summer fever dream that we never want to melt away.

Tiny Home Creamery
Born out of a love for science and consuming entire pints of Ben & Jerry’s in one sitting, Josh and Meera began using their at home ice cream maker to perfect flavors like crème brûlée, cold-brew coffee, and PB&J from their 264 sq. ft. apartment in the City— and now they think it’s time to share the goodness to the ice cream lovers of NYC.

Scoops in Cahoots
This local creamery run by two sisters uses only fresh, non-GMO milk and cream from female owned farms upstate to make vegetarian-friendly ice cream flavors like Laurent-Perrier Champagne, fair-trade espresso, and made-from-scratch oatmeal cookie dough.

Blue Marble
Born in Brooklyn in 2007, Blue Marble strives to make taste buds happy and hearts feel good. Being NYC’s only certified organic ice cream shop with two stores in Brooklyn and expanding into 15 states, Blue Marble is set to take over NYC…and the world!

La Newyorkina
Staying true to their roots, La Newyorkina’s mission is not only to create the most delicious chilly treats possible, but to share and educate on the rich culture of Mexican flavors. Making “nieves de garrafa” in the most authentic way possible, join their culinary ride with flavors like horchata and tres leches cake.

Know who has visited the social? Leonardo DiCaprio (just don't take a picture because his mom will "bomb" you).

The Hester Street Fair Ice Cream Social is Saturday, July 21, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the intersection of Essex Street and Hester Streets.
