It looks like another food truck will be setting up a permanent shop thanks to its successes on the road. Korean fusion truck Korilla BBQ is reportedly opening on Third Avenue near St. Marks Place sometime in the near future, taking over for the now-defunct retro diner Archie & Sons. EV Grieve heard from "a very reliable source" that the crew would be partnering with the former Archie's owners to open their first brick-and-mortar at 23 Third Avenue just north of St. Mark's Place. This morning, co-owner Edward Song confirmed to us that they'll be opening a permanent location.
The space has seen dramatic turnover in the past decade, from the original location of Chickpea, to Tahini, to an ill-fated pizza place to its more recent incarnation as Archie's, which lasted under a year. It's a safe bet that Korilla—which sees lengthly lunch lines for its kimchi-flecked burritos, tacos and bowls—should be able to make a go of it.
