05-2006-KitchenAid-Gothamist.jpgAccording to our friends at Curbed, Broadway Panhandler will be moving to 8th Street (at Mercer) in August. It's one of Gothamist's favorite kitchen supply stores. You can't beat their Le Creuset sale every January, their customer service is terrific and they offer knife sharpening each weekend (call in advance to confirm times: 866-266-5927).

This move will complete a troika of kitchenware store openings and moves within the past year. Among our other favorite sources, midtown's Bridge Kitchenware moved to 711 Third Ave (at 45th) in April. And west coast favorite Sur La Table opened in SoHo (at Crosby & Spring) last August.

Other Manhattan standbys include Williams-Sonoma, Dean & Deluca, Bed Bath & Beyond (good prices, if you can handle the crowds), Zabar's, Bowery Kitchen Supply (460 W. 16th) and restaurant supply row on lower Bowery. In Brooklyn, we like A Cook's Companion (179 Atlantic Ave.) and Tarzian West for Housewares (194 7th Ave). What's your favorite kitchenware source?
