In February, a 4-alarm fire swept through 509 Amsterdam Avenue, causing major water damage to brunch mainstay Jacob's Pickles and devastating Upper West Siders accustomed to gorging on boat-sized biscuit sandwiches, deep fried Oreos, and gravy-topped mac and cheese. Have your Lipitor at the ready though, folks, because Jacob's Pickles will reopen on Amsterdam Avenue on September 14th for dinner service.

The interior has been renovated following the water damage and the team has even added a new bar in the basement, to open at a later date. Some menu items have been added—and others tweaked—in the months the restaurant has been closed. The Kale Salad has been updated to a Kale Nicoise w/ Spiced Shrimp; the Homemade Slow Cooked Meatballs are now the Sunday Gravy with Home Cooked Meatballs; and the Pickles & Cheese Burger is now the restaurant's version of a Patty Melt.

In the months when Jacob's Pickles has been closed, new sister restaurant Maison Pickle has taken up the brunch mantle, serving the calorically-dense egg, biscuit and pancake dishes its older sibling was known for. When Jacob's gets back up on its feet, Maison Pickle will debut its own fall brunch menu timed to launch in a few weeks.
