Despite John Oliver's best efforts, nothing is safe from being pumpkin-fied come fall: lattes, burgers, and bagels have all been defiled as part of the annual autumnal ritual. So why not try some pumpkin sushi?
On Wednesday, October 19th, Sushi Sushi will be offering free pumpkin tempura mango rolls from 1 to 5 p.m. at both of its Manhattan locations. Although it may initially seem like Sushi Sushi is capitulating to the seasonal trend, pumpkin sushi really is a thing. And despite its sweet ingredients, Sushi Sushi's manager tells us it's not a dessert roll.
"It's like a traditional roll, but there's no fish," Sushi Sushi manager Igor Ginsberg told Gothamist. "It's just like a spicy tuna roll, but with pumpkin and mango instead of tuna."
The roll will be on the restaurant's menu throughout the month of October, giving you plenty of time to make peace with your pumpkin-spiced demons and try it out.
