Last year, a Sonic Drive-In opened in Long Island, giving New York City residents an option to visit the fast food joint without leaving the state—even though it's farther than the one in North Bergen, NJ. And Staten Island residents have been close to the one in Bayonne. But now there are rumors that one will open in Staten Island!

A source tells the Advance that one might be in the works: "Paul Montella, owner of Nucci's South Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria in Richmond Valley, and another man, Anthony Cirillo, were said to have purchased rights to open a Sonic restaurant on Staten Island, the person said, mentioning it's coming to Richmond Valley." While Montella and Cirillo (and Sonic) have refused to comment, the Advance points out, "Cirillo's Facebook page claims he's the owner of a Sonic restaurant."

Also: One woman on the "5,000 fans for a Sonic on Staten Island" Facebook page "boasted that her father wanted to let everyone know that he is the owner of a Sonic that will soon be coming to Staten Island." The NYPD better batten down the hatches because people are not kidding around when it comes to Sonic—hello, HALF-PRICE SHAKES!

A Five Guys opened on Staten Island this past summer, but one Yelper had a mixed opinion, "There is no doubt that the burgers here are a cut above all the fast food places at the corner of every block on Staten Island. The fries are very good & the portions are fair as well, though they are just a bit too expensive for what you get, The thing that would help with that, keep in in mind all the families that need to afford to eat there, would be: 1) Coupons and 2) Combo deals that are truly needed, so everything for a family of 4 or more would not need to order everythin a la carte."
