If feels like we've been waiting forever but Dinosaur BBQ's new Gowanus outpost finally opens to the public tomorrow at 5 p.m. The giant space retains some of its warehouse charms, with tons of exposed brick, weathered wood and high, raftered ceilings. It's a familiar aesthetic if you've visited the chainlet's other locations but with unique touches like a charming Calder-esque ceiling mobile made from old glass bottles.
Most of the well-loved menu items appear on the Brooklyn menu, like huge, juicy chicken wings, moist brisket sandwiches, tender pork ribs and gut-busting sides. Brooklyn specific dishes include Breakfast All Day ($13.95), a nod to the nabe's brunching culture, which tops smoked brisket and poblano hash with a sunny side up egg.
Two special sandwiches are also on offer: Ode to Domolise ($10.95 with one side) with brisket, beef gravy, Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickled onion, jalapeño relish, and BBQ mayo and the F.G.T.V ($10.95 with one side) with fried green tomatoes, pimento cheese, shredded cabbage, and chow-chow. Or sample the FGT solo ($7.95), topped with housemade pimento cheese and sweet & sour green tomato chow-chow.
Beverage options are the same as other locations, with beers from Kelso, Sixpoint and Brooklyn Brewery plus other American brews and European imports.
