First he opened a rooftop bar with some dope views of the Manhattan skyline, and now Chef Dale Talde and his Three Kings Restaurant Group have debuted the restaurant component to their trio of dining establishments inside Hotel 50 Bowery. Rice & Gold channels the street art aesthetic Talde has employed at other properties, decking out the brick walls of the restaurant with some depictions of grouchy New Yorkers who are probably experiencing subway delays.

Though he's been dabbling in Italian, pizza and riffs on American sports bar fare concepts of late, Talde turns back to Asia for Rice & Gold's menu, with inspiration found in Thailand, China, the Philippines, Vietnam and beyond. The dim sum section includes lamb neck buns with vinegary coleslaw, soup dumplings prepared pho-style, and crispy mapo tofu dumplings. Crispy papaya salad in tamarind chili, several types of skewers, and a cured salmon crudo round out the smaller plates.

Larger share plates skew towards big pieces of protein, like a whole smoked branzino with a caper-ginger relish, rabbit vindaloo, and a whole jerk roasted duck with steamed buns and hoisin sauce. Naturally, there is rice on the menu, including a lobster fried rice with both xo butter and old bay, and an acorn sticky rice with a vegetarian xo sauce and apple pumpkin puree.

Given that it's in a hotel, there's breakfast on offer, too, like the Dale's Sandwich with soft scrambled egg, cheddar, hash browns, applewood smoked bacon and sriracha ketchup on brioche, served with a side of brûléed grapefruit. For the evening, cocktails include the Endless Summer with tequila, yuzu, grapefruit, pear shrub with an Asian pear garnish and the Big Trouble Little Sour with 12-year rum, lemon and lime juices, simple syrup and a red wine float.
