Gothamist finds the red currant to be one of those fruits that usually appears on menus as part of a tart sauce for meat, game or fish. Part of the gooseberry family, they can also be used as a tart counterpoint to decadent chocolate and sweet fruit desserts.
Red Currants can currently be found in Citarella stores around the city for about $3 a pack.
