It's not just the weekends that are reserved for fancy dinners and delectable food festivals, though Saturdays and Sundays rightfully offer up a fair share of those. On Monday, Hank Shaw, who runs acclaimed food blog "Hunter Angler Gardener Cook", will belaunching his new book Duck, Duck, Goose: Recipes and Techniques for Cooking Duck and Geese, Both Wild and Domesticated at Annisa Restaurant in the West Village. Shaw will be on hand to sign copies of the book, Chef Anita Lo will be preparing a duck-and-goose tasting menu (paired with wine) using his recipes; the event kicks off at 6:30 p.m., reservations are $175 per person, and can be made by contacting the restaurant directly.
On Tuesday, the Wythe Hotel in Williamsburg has invited former Chez Panisse chef David Tanis to whip up a high-end meal, alongside resident restaurant Reynard's Sean Rembold. Tickets, which can be purchased online, are a hefty $195-a-person, but they get you five full courses complete with wine pairings. The meal is part of the Wythe's ongoing Dinner With Friends series, and will also be held on Wednesday; the event kicks off at 7:00 p.m.
Wednesday is for the Malbec fiends; West Village spot Louro is hosting a "Hand of God" wine dinner featuring a seven course tasting menu and a smattering of Argentinian wine. They'll be breaking out the super rare “Hand of God” Malbec, made by by one of Argentina’s most famous winemakers, and dishes will include smoked salt cod, charred beef and ricotta tortellini; the meal is $75-per-person and begins at 7:30 p.m.
Thursday will tug on the turophile's stomach strings, with a Goat Cheese of France class (and tasting) taking place at the Bedford Cheese Shop in Gramercy; tickets are $50 per person, and the class runs from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. And on Friday, Hell's Kitchen bar Hudson Terrace is hosting the New York Cocktail War Championship Fall 2013, an Iron Chef-style bartending battle that will involve sampling lots and lots of drinks. Tickets are $80-a-pop, but there are some discounted ones floating around sites like Living Social and Groupon if you can grab them in time.
