Finally, a place where we can show off our oversized cardigans, finely tuned bocce skills, and drink, all under one roof! Meet the Greenwich Village Country Club, opening this fall with promises of a "kitschy, retro theme" featuring mini golf, bocce ball, and, the Game of Senior Champions, shuffleboard.
Part of the Bowlmor complex on University Place just south of Union Square, the Country Club is taking over the space formerly known as Carnival, which was damaged in the great blizzard of 2010. They're going for a Caddyshack vibe, complete with "astro-turf flooring, golf club wall sconces, faux stone facades, and flannel wall coverings." David Burke is on board to oversee food. And while you could practice your swing at these other mini golf courses across the city, where else will the field be decorated with creepy-awesome sounding fiberglass animals restored from a '60s-era amusement park? The Club is set to open this October.
