“Today me will live in the moment, unless it's unpleasant, in which case me will eat a cookie.” A wise Cookie Monster once said this, and I have been living by these words all week. It's only Wednesday, but I am happy to report that I have completely stopped touching my face, and have replaced the habit with constantly eating this cookie, the greatest cookie in New York City.

What is the cookie?

On March 2nd, the city's most perfect cookie was born. Sure, New York City has a lot of good cookies, great ones even, the best ones some say, but never have I tasted cookie perfection until this new cookie was put in front of me but two days ago. It appeared out of nowhere, like a cookie angel materializing during a moment of city-wide crisis... but don't think about that, free your mind and just think about the cookie.

WHAT. IS. THE. COOKIE?

The Double Chocolate Cookie with Oat Ganache is a temporary one-month-only collaboration between Maman Cafe and Chobani (the yogurt people!). It's a decadent (but not too decadent) double chocolate cookie with Chobani Oat ganache filling and it is perfect. Each large cookie is misshapen, so you know it's made with love. Additionally, each is chewy on the inside and crisp around the edges—the platonic ideal of a cookie. I don't really know what else to tell you; she may not look like much, but this is a damn fine baked good and I have a pretty high bar on things like this.

I used to think Jacques Torres had the best cookies, but I had one of those yesterday (a day after first trying the Maman/Chobani creation) and they are pure garbage compared to this—boring, dry, calling out for milk to give it a boost. But these Maman/Chobai cookies have milk in them already. Oat milk, the best kind of milk. I am not trying to take down my once-beloved Jacques Torres chocolate chip to be sensational. The thing just no longer tasted good to me. RIP to that cookie.

Where is the cookie?

Wherever you are right now, get yourself to a Maman Cafe and pick up a few — each bite will lift you away from the living nightmare life is right now and fill you with joy. You'll find them at the six Maman Café locations across the city (SoHo, Tribeca, Nomad, Hudson, FiDi, and Greenpoint) through March 31st. They will cost you $3.75 each, and are quite large.

You'll probably want to go soon, because I know how SEO works, and this cookie isn't going to be a secret for long. Gothamist staffers just purchased the last four at the Hudson Maman, but we're told they will plan to stay in stock to meet demand, so in theory they'll never sell out.

They'll also be selling Orange Chamomile Oat Loaf, a Chamomile Oat Tea Latte, and Blueberry Oat Crumble Latte as part of their collaboration with Chobani.

This article is not sponsored by Chobani, it exists purely because I think you deserve to know about the city's best cookie before it's gone. You're welcome.
