Newly-opened RAW MKT on East 8th Street ticks off quite a few boxes in current NYC dining trends: "fancy" fast casual, restaurants masquerading as grocery stores, and Hawaiian food. Cafe-type dining spots have proliferated in the NYU-adjacent stretch—chains like Cosi, Maoz, Subway and Chipotle have found great success there—so are freshmen ready for some fresh fish?

Bowls ($11.99/$13.99) can come with a base of rice or zucchini noodles with Shoyu Tuna with scallions and onions in a soy-sesame glaze or Salmon Avocado ($.99 more) with edamame and macadamia nuts in a shoyu glaze. The same proteins can be transformed into hand rolls, one for $4.99 or three for $11.99.

Nearby dorm rooms can also be stocked up with popular Hawaiian and Japanese sauces and products including sriracha, shrimp chips, Pocky, and wasabi peas.
