If the thought of sipping luscious spirits while cruising the New York Harbor doesn't appeal to you, we can only assume you're some sort of teetotaling landlubber. For the rest of us, ahoy Holiday Spirits, the Village Voice's 2nd annual toast to liquor, taking place this year on the Hornblower Infinity Cruise Ship. Sea legs and drinking pants required.

Like their other excellent drinking event Brooklyn Pour, this event centers around samples of many types of booze, namely craft spirits from both near and far. Local purveyors like Widow Jane, Breuckelen Distilling, Brooklyn Gin and others will join other New York distilleries including Catskill Distilling Company and Cooperstown Distillery. Guests are treated to sips of the spirits plus speciality cocktails crafted around them for comparison. Complimentary hors d'oeuvres are also served, but given the potency at play, might we recommend a bagel pregame?

Even though the event is taking place on the evening of November 20th, the outdoor sections of the ship will also be available for hanging out. Those'll be the prime spots for viewing the sights as the ship sails around Manhattan, but the two indoors decks won't be too shabby either. There are two levels of ticketing, including a $70 VIP that includes a private bar, or a GA for $50 with perhaps a bit more waiting on line.
