It's officially outdoor market season, when food vendors creep back into public spaces to tempt you with pizza and doughnuts when you promised yourself a healthful kale salad would be your lunch of choice. Broadway Bites, one of the many outdoor and indoor markets run by Urbanspace, returns to Greeley Square on Broadway between 32nd and 33rd Streets Thursday, bringing a bounty of mom-and-pop eats with it.
All told there are 30 vendors participating for the early summer session, which runs through Friday, July 14th and operates daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. All manner of cravings can be met, from grilled cheese and ice cream to flavored lemonades and garlic knot sliders, which I didn't know was a thing one could crave until writing this sentence.
Newcomers for this season include West Village doughnut pushers Doughnut Project; Chick'n'Cone, which also made a splash at Riis Park; Daa! Dumplings, which serves its Russian dumplings in a cone; Mi Burger from the Boil Boil Ramen crew; and Hanks Juicy Beef, where you can prep your body for a midday nap with giant Chicago-style beef sandwiches. Other newcomers to Broadway Bites are noted with an asterisk below.
