Super Bowl Sunday is thisclose, and whether you're a 49ers fan, a Ravens fan, or have been waiting for over a decade to see "Say My Name" performed live on stage again, you'll probably be watching. There are a whole bunch of places gearing up for some great Super Bowl parties—here are a few to check out:
This fancy Union Square sports bar will be hosting a tailgate and viewing party for Ravens fans, so if you're wearing purple to bed tonight (or if you're just pumped see Ray Lewis cry one last time) you might want to swing by. Celebrations begin at 3 p.m., and they'll be serving themed specials like purple crush cocktails for $5 and purple hooter shots for $4, plus $3 Budweisers and dishes like Chesapeake pretzels topped with crab meat and Maryland steamed crabs.
SideBAR is located at 118 East 15th Street at Irving Place in Union Square (212-677-2900, sidebarny.com)
The Bell House
Watch those Volkswagon ads on the big screen at this Gowanus warehouse, where they'll be serving $5 select drafts and $6 specialty cocktails like Ravens Rye (Old Overholt Rye and gingerbeer) and the San Fran Shuffle (Sailor Jerry and root beer). Williamsburg sandwich shop Urban Rustic will be selling food; the shindig starts at 5:30, and there's no cost for entry.
The Bell House is located at 149 7th Street between 2nd and 3rd Ave in Gowanus, Brooklyn (718-643-6510, thebellhouseny.com).
The East Village's premiere San Francisco bar is obviously getting ready for a big night, and they're warning 49ers fans that lines to get into their 3 p.m. party will be long. But you can purchase a $35 VIP package if you're looking to be front-and-center, which will score you early entry and a commemorative Harbowl T-Shirt.
Finnerty's is located at 221 2nd Ave between 13th and 14th Street in the East Village (212-677-2655, FinnertysNYC.com)
The Super Bowl is probably the eating-est day of the year, and how better to celebrate than at a party catered by Roberta's? The Clinton's favorite pizza place will be heading to Greenpoint to sell wings, nachos, and pierogies, plus there will be specials on American and Polish beers. A cinema screen and several TV screens will be airing the game, and you can reserve a spot at a 10-person table or show up early for a seat at the bar.
The Warsaw is located at 261 Driggs Ave between Eckford and Leonard Streets in Greenpoint, Brooklyn (718-387-0505, warsawconcerts.com)
Guy's American Kitchen and Bar
Really, you should probably skip this one, but if there was ever a time to fill your body with fatty, sugary, greasy tourist food, this is it. Plus, draft beers are $1 off, wings are half-priced all night, and the Jets sucked this year so what do you have to live for anyway?
Guy's American Kitchen and Bar is located at 220 West 44th Street between Shubert Alley in 8th Avenue in Midtown West (646-532-4897, guysamerican.com)
