Best way to beat the cold? Look no further than SERRA ALPINA, the new winter-themed rooftop restaurant at Eataly NYC Flatiron. Freezing New Yorkers can ring in the holiday season at Eataly’s twinkling rooftop restaurant inspired by the Italian Alps, from the snow-covered decor to the seasonal mountain fare on the menus. Diners can escape the freezing streets of Manhattan and cozy up in a wintry atmosphere that transports them into an Italian alpine wonderland overlooking a breathtaking view of the New York City. The brand new look boasts twinkling lights and snowy branches, adorning the Italian “greenhouse” with a warm and rustic feel.

In celebration of the season, Eataly’s chefs have rolled out a menu that favors seasonal ingredients from local producers and traditional dishes typically found in the Italian Alps. Highlights include Fonduta Valdostana, an Italian-style fondue made with Fontina Val d’Aosta DOP and served with fingerling potatoes, rustic Otto bread, and root vegetables; Osso Buco alla Milanese, a braised osso buco for two served with risotto alla Milanese and gremolata; and Sedano Rapa, a whole roasted celery root served with Fonduta Valdostana, burgundy truffles, and celery leaves.

Naturally, it wouldn’t be an Italian feast without the addition of fresh seasonal truffles. Select menu items include the option to add freshly shaved black or white truffles. This earthy, aromatic tuber grows wild in the forests of Italy and is only in season for certain months of the year, making it an extra special indulgence that diners won’t want to miss.

To pair with the hearty fare, a wide variety of winter-inspired cocktails and wines are on the menu. Highlights include Vin Brulé, or spiced wine, an Italian tradition that dates back to ancient Rome. The SERRA ALPINA version features Moscato d’Asti DOCG steeped with orange peel, cloves, cinnamon, star anise, and allspice. For a creative twist on truffle season, guests can taste the Truffletini, featuring white truffle-infused vodka. In December, the menu will highlight a selection of coffee-infused cocktails like Cool Beans, a bourbon-based coffee cocktail featuring coldbrew coffee and Bubba’s Secret Stills brown sugar liqueur.

Of course, it wouldn’t be an Italian meal without wine: the list at SERRA ALPINA boasts an extensive vino libero list, with a special focus on Barolo and Nebbiolo for the winter months, from a consortium of wine producers committed to dynamic and sustainable farming practices to make wines that are “free” to be as healthy and high-quality as possible. For whites, guests can choose from a special Riesling menu, featuring selections of this noble varietal wine from the plains of Lombardia to the mountains in Friuli Venezia Giulia, Alto Adige, and the foothills of Piemonte, available by the glass and by the bottle.
