The Upper East Side's Jones Wood Foundry delights in introducing Americans to all the culinary curiosities enjoyed by Brits across the pond. Last year we got a mouthful of Faggots and now the pub is bringing another British tradition to our shores: English curry.
Every Monday night in November, chef Jason Hicks and his collaborator Saira Malhotra transform the pub into The Curry Club, serving up a different variety of curry for each night. Dishes like spicy and pungent Shrimp Goan and the ever popular British staple Chicken Tikka Masala come accompanied by various rice pilafs, Indian breads and complementary condiments, all for $23. The pair also imported several Indian beers—curry and beer pairings date back to the 19th century—plus a few Indian wines for a fully immersed meal.
The Curry Club operates for dinner between 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. on November 5, 12, 19 and 26. The regular pub menu will still be served on those nights in case anyone in your group can't take the heat.
