Sampling all of New York City's incredible pizza takes a significant dedication of time, not to mention money, in part because many of the best restaurants don't sell their creations by the slice. But for one night only, many of NYC's pizza giants will sell slices of their famed pies under one roof—and for a very good cause! Slice Out Hunger returns for another evening of $1 slices to benefit City Harvest and their efforts to rescue food to help feed the hungry.
Here's the deal: buy $1 tokens at the door and exchange them for slices from Di Fara, Lombardi's, Keste, Motorino and 26 other top pizzerias. You can also cash in your token for a Lizzy natural soda or a raffle ticket but sadly, unlike last year, there won't be any beer.
For each token you buy, 12 pounds of food will be rescued, thanks in part to matching donations from organizer Scott's Pizza Tours and partner Seamless. Doors open at 6 p.m. at St. Anthony's Church on Sullivan Street and you should consider leaving work early to get on line: last year the pizza sold out in 61 minutes!
