DUMBO has been clawing its way out of its stigma as a lunch desert, where overpriced delis are now in competition with superlative sandwiches and even Shake Shack. But it's still welcome news that more food options will be arriving in the tiny neighborhood, this time courtesy of some local chains looking to make their mark in the historic district. The Daily News reports that Dos Toros—of "best burrito" fame—Dig Inn and Untamed Sandwiches are all set to debut in the area by the end of the year, ending the drought of sad salads for good.

The trio will be setting up at the forthcoming Dumbo Heights tech temple, the multi-building development that used to belong to the Jehovah's Witnesses. In addition to the three quick-service spots, there's word that a British-style pub may also land at one of the buildings, plus another coffee shop to add to DUMBO's demand for caffeine. Other shops are slated to open alongside the eateries, too. "People haven’t had anywhere to eat or shop," explains developer Asher Abehsera. "Now, the retail is catching up."

Many of the once abandoned warehouses of DUMBO are set to undergo massive transformations that will bring housing, office space and retail to the area. Nearby to the Dumbo Heights development are the Empire Stores, which will also house a number of restaurants in addition to retail and other amenities. If you can make it in DUMBO you can make it anywhere—unless you're Big Ang.

Update A representative from Dos Toros's broker tells us that there are no plans to inhabit the forthcoming space at 117 Adams Street as reported by the Daily News. However, Dos Toros has plans to open up 64 Court Street in Cobble Hill, their eighth location in NYC, this summer.
