New York City got its first Diner En Blanc last year, and the group that throws the dinner party/pop-up picnic is back with another one coming up later this month. Bust out the bleach—they've just finalized the date: August 20th. On their Facebook page, they announced: "The Dîner en Blanc is back for an even more magical event on Monday, August 20th 2012! Get ready—the registration process will start this week!"
Take note, you need to be a member to get in during Phase I (and Phase 2), which begins tomorrow at noon and runs through August 14th. If you are a member (maybe you signed up last year or got put on a waiting list), you'll receive an email in the next 24 hours containing your registration code. If you aren't a member, sign up here and you'll be put on a list to get a chance to join during Phase 3. If you get in, you'll receive a confirmation telling you the details, including the outdoor space where this year's will be held (last year was at the World Financial Center in Battery Park City). And then you'll need to get yourself some white threads, and start planning what you'll pack your white picnic basket with (if you don't purchase their pre-packed one).
