After enduring Buildings Department inspection delays following Hurricane Sandy, Benjamin Prelvukaj and Ben Sinanaj—the "Bens" behind popular midtown meat house Benjamin Steakhouse—have finally opened their new restaurant, The Sea Fire Grill, on East 48th Street. Executive Chef Richard Pims, a veteran of Stanton Social and Blue Fin, among others, has been brought aboard to helm the seafood-centric kitchen, which will also serve the Benjamin Group's signature dry-aged steaks. To guarantee the freshest catch, Chef Pims will personally select each item on a daily trip to the fish market, making sure to use sustainably sourced product whenever possible.

A citrus-specked Montauk Fluke Crudo ($14) stands out amidst other traditional raw bar items, including a daily selection of east and west coast oysters and Long Island's Littleneck Clams. For the appetizers, an island of airy cappuccino foam floats in a crimson bowl of Lobster Bisque ($15), and Smoked Brandade Fritters ($15) come with a rich dipping aioli flavored with truffles. Seafood entrees include whole lobsters and Alaskan King Crab Legs plus finessed dishes like the Herb Basted Atlantic Halibut ($36) in a lemon and white wine sauce and American Red Snapper ($36), served with peppery broccoli rabe and spicy chimichurri. For a taste from land and sea, the SFG Surf & Turf ($74), includes a bone-in filet mignon and 1 1/2 pounds of steamed lobster.

Muted cream and brown tones dominate the dining areas with pops of color from recessed blue bulbs throughout the space. A shimmering blue accent wall gives the impression of being underwater and a large fireplace crackles at the far end of the dining room. The large bar area gives diners a front row seat to watch bartenders build the specialty cocktails and champagne spritzers, like the Angel's Sip ($12), which combines Old Overholt Rye and Antica Formula Sweet Vermouth with a 10-year-old balsamic vinegar. An SFG Burger ($18), Fish & Chips ($20) and Oyster "Po Boy" Sliders ($14) can be ordered off the bar menu and are also available during lunch hours.
