The new Financial District outpost of David Chang's dedicated fried chicken outlet fuku began its soft opening Tuesday evening, serving dinner Monday through Friday beginning at 5 p.m. The superb fried chicken sandwich that debuted at the East Village original makes the menu downtown, too, but it's the Chimek fried chicken dinner that'll be the big draw at the new locale.

Similar to the fried chicken dinners Chang offers at his momofuku noodle bar, the Chimek entree ($42) includes a whole fried chicken, half of which (thighs and wings) is fried and doused in a sweet and spicy sauce, the other half (breast and legs) coated in buttermilk and habanero and then fried. The chicken is accompanied by m'smen—a Moroccan flatbread by Hot Bread Kitchen—pickle chips, pickled daikon, kimchi and french fries. Add a six pack of High Life ponies for $12.

See below for the full spread in action.

A summer menu also includes a Ginger Chicken Bowl—to which you can add a crack-your-own egg for $1—a Crispy Kale Salad ($9) and Sugar Snap Peas ($4).

Lunch will debut soon but for now it's just dinner. The prolific restaurateur is also opening a restaurant in Pier 17 at the South Street Seaport at some point in the future.
