Unstoppable restaurateur Danny Meyer first dabbled in pizza with the opening of Marta back in 2014. Now he's combining a passion for pies with the fast casual model of his Shake Shack empire with the opening of Martina in the East Village on Saturday.

Grub Street reports that the restaurant, which will be run by Marta chef Nick Anderer, will open at 198 East 11th Street this weekend, offering seven 10-inch pizzas quickly cooked in a gas oven. "People are craving a little more casualness, a quicker pace, places that feel more accessible," Anderer told Grub Street.

The menu includes pies like the fully loaded Capricciosa ($12) topped with artichokes, ham, mushrooms, black olives, mozzarella and a sunny side up egg. Anderer will also be offering a classic Margherita ($7) and a Quattro Formaggi ($9) with mozzarella, fontina, pecorino toscano and pecorino romano cheeses plus arugula.

Eater has noted that the volume they're capable of turning out at Martina (hopefully cooking 90 per hour) could signal Meyer's desire to turn this restaurant into a fleet a la Shake Shack. Other signs—including a lower price point and the buzzers that let you know your order is ready—could mean many more Martinas in our future.
