For all those sick of hearing about yet another new Shake Shack, we bring word of one of the original remaining New York burger institutions expanding after half a century: The Corner Bistro is opening a second outpost in Queens. Long Island City, to be exact.

Yesterday Liqcity noted that Corner Bistro was looking to appear before the Community Board SLA committee to ask for a full liquor license, and today Grub Street got confirmation from the source. According to Corner Bistro manager and partner Harold Wedick "owner Bill O'Donnell (who's been with the restaurant for almost 45 years, and even witnessed the advent of the revered greasy burger in 1977) hopes to have the new place, which includes a back patio, open for business in '3 to 4 months.'"

As fans of both quality burgers and variety, we can't say "YES!" loud enough to this news. If you had your druthers what other burger joints around town would you like to see more of? And don't say Milk Burger.
