Three months after the Department of Transportation rolled out a pilot program to educate restaurants about commercial cycling rules, the City Council has officially voted to move forward with things such as reflective vests identifying where the cyclists work, ID numbers, and helmets. Council Transportation Chair Jimmy Vacca (D-Bronx) said, "We want the days of the Wild, Wild West to come to an end."

Additionally, restaurant owners must have their cyclists take classes and could be fined $250 if their cyclists do not comply. Mayor Bloomberg will likely sign the bill.
