Although soup dumpling season is pretty much over, Chinatown's restaurant week begins this Friday. It's nothing like the regular restaurant week, since there will only be 17 restaurants to chose from—if you eat out twice a day starting from March 9th onwards, you can hit them all! There's an easy-to-read list of the participating joints posted at Fork in the Road.

But interestingly enough, the 9-day event is sponsored partially by the MSG Network, which may or may not have anything to do with the National Basketball Association, the Knicks, MSG, or any athletic figures with the names Jeremy, Lin, or both.

Still, sports or no sports, we've been promised three-course meals starting at $18.88 per person (eight is an auspicious number in Chinese culture), although a pricier eatery like Peking Duck House will only offer the pre-fixe during lunch. We recommend hitting up Red Egg before they get shut down again, or heading south-east towards New Malaysia—the latter of the two recently participated in Malaysian restaurant week! It's also Dine Out for Japan Week, by the way. With only 52 weeks in a year and food "weeks" that go on for 9 to 12 days, will any of this city's myriad ethnic cuisine go unsampled? Not likely! Unless it's a whole week devoted to gefilte fish. Mmm. Gefilte.
