Brooklyn's massive, multi-disciplinary Whole Foods in Gowanus has welcomed a new vendor to its in-store eatery program with the addition of Cemita's Mexican Sandwiches & Tacos, which fills the void left by Yuji Ramen. The popular Smorgasburg vendor makes its debut tomorrow, serving Mexican sandwiches, tacos and beverages from the Prepared Foods Department.

Their namesake cemitas ($9) come filled with carnitas, angus barbacoa and other proteins or mushrooms for the veg-heads. For the uninitiated, get ready to unhinge your jaw to take a bite of these bulky beauties, which also come with multiple layers of things like avocado, tomato, mayo, black bean spread, a fistful of Oaxaca cheese and other goodies.

They're doing tacos ($3.50), too, if you're not prepared for The Itis. Renditions like the carnitas above come with lettuce, cilantro, onions, crema, Chihuahua-style cheese and some salsa on corn tortillas. Wash down your meal with a homemade cucumber mint lemonade ($3) or inhale your food and hoof it to the store's rooftop bar for a more adult libation.

214 3rd Street in Gowanus; open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
