Vegans and lactose-intolerant New Yorkers rejoice: there's a giant dairy-free milkshake coming to the much-beloved Black Tap this weekend, topped with delicious vegan sweets from the kitchen at by CHLOE. The foot-high shakes are made with by CHLOE's "Chill" coconut milk ice cream, dairy-free frosting, a dizzying amount of rice-based whipped cream, and garnished with one of the Greenwich Village bakery's "Chlostess" cupcakes and a pink whirly pop.

The final product is a visually daunting (and genuinely delicious) $15 dessert that isn't just a great vegan milkshake, but a great milkshake period, full stop.

"I started thinking about flavors that go well with vegan food—on the sweet side, coconut was the first that came to mind," Black Tap chef and owner Joe Isidori explained Wednesday as he oversaw a preview tasting at the restaurant's downstairs milkshake station, where we observed that nearly a full can of all-rice whipping cream goes into each order. "I knew I wanted to do a coconut shake with cream of coconut and coconut milk. We also put some almond in there to give it some depth." Also, shaking that "cream" out of its can is damn near impossible.

The shakes will be available at both of Black Tap's locations while supplies last for this weekend only, but Isidori and by CHLOE co-owner Samantha Wasser hinted that future collaborations between the two red-hot businesses are certainly possible.
