Police are after a pair of burglars who they say hit four bars and restaurants in Park Slope, Red Hook, and Greenwood Heights in Brooklyn, and made off with more than $63,000 in cash.
In the first break-in, at 8:20 p.m. on Wednesday, August 18th, the two entered Cafe Dada on Seventh Avenue at Lincoln Place and grabbed $1,500 and a safe containing an unspecified amount. That Saturday at 1:30 a.m., cops say the pair went big, hitting Bar Toto on 11th Street at Sixth Avenue by prying open the front door with a crowbar and taking $1,500 from the register. Two hours later, according to police, the bandits hit the jackpot at Greenwood Park, a beer garden on Seventh Avenue between the Green-Wood Cemetery and the Prospect Expressway, taking a safe with $24,450 inside.
Police believe the team went dormant for a few months, then struck again last Sunday at Brooklyn Crab in Red Hook, bagging another large haul. At 4:50 that morning, cops say they came in through a back gate and left with $2,600 worth of electronics and a safe containing $36,000.
Police ask people with information about any of the break-ins to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-8477, visit the Crime Stoppers website, or text tips to 274637, then enter "TIP577". They say calls are confidential.
