The people who protested the yuppie scum at the Bowery Wine Co., the East First Street wine bar that boasted celebrity investor Bruce Willis, when it opened in 2008 may have won in the long run. Eagle-eyed EV Grieve noticed that on this month's CB3 SLA agenda there is an item listed for the space where the wine bar currently lives (it ain't dead yet!). And who appears to be looking to move in? No less than the team behind West Village Italian foodie-magnets Dell'Anima and l'Artusi.

From the submitted forms (PDF) it appears that Epicurean management, which runs Dell'Anima, l'Artusi and Anfora, is not only looking to take over the BWC space, they also want to expand into two of the neighboring spaces in the Avalon Bowery Place building. If the plan goes through—all that Epicurean would say to us on the topic was "Thank you for your interest. Epicurean Management is constantly working on and taking steps towards developing new opportunities."—the First Street strip across from Extra Place will have pretty much just the upcoming Veselka outpost and and this new Italian restaurant.

If you are for—or against—the idea of another fancy Italian coming to the Bowery (what, Il Buco isn't enough?) the CB3/SLA meeting is on May 16 at 6:30 p.m. at the Green Residence at 200 East 5th Street and the Bowery.
