Remember that fancy hotel that opened inside of Brooklyn Bridge Park earlier this year? The enviable half — you know, with the pool — was previously closed to the public, but as of Saturday (July 29th) it will be open to one and all. With the opening comes a new food and beverage program, courtesy of Matt Abramcyk (Beatrice Inn, Tiny's), Eddie Bilowich (1Oak) and Chef Michael Oliver.
The space (some of which was already open to the public) features fire pits, stadium-like seating (made from the original pine beams from the former Domino Sugar Factory), the aforementioned lounge pool, sweeping views, and other stuff you'd normally find in Miami... like a lineup of rotating deejays. The capacity is around 450, so expect that number of people there nightly!
There will also be cocktails, beer (sourced "from the tip of Montauk to the heart of Greenpoint"), wine, and a menu featuring "a lobster roll inspired by chefs home state of Maine" and "a locally sourced grilled hot dog and a backyard burger." Lighter fare includes guacamole with spiced chips and whipped ricotta with market tomatoes.
They'll be up there from now into the fall, when the trio "will take up permanent residence, running the 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge’s signature restaurant and 10th floor cocktail bar, in addition to 1 Rooftop."
The hotel also has a lounge bar on the ground floor, but be warned the service is pretty abysmal, and you may wait over 30 minutes for a drink. It's worth noting that the lobby bar is not run by Abramcyk & Co., so hopefully the issues that have been ever-present there since opening won't make it upstairs.
1 Rooftop at 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge is located at 60 Furman Street; hours are M-F from 4 p.m. to close, and Saturday and Sunday from 1 p.m. to close.
