After the success of Williamburg’s Smorgasburg, Brooklyn Flea has gone and teamed up with the DUMBO Improvement District to bring more local food and booze to Brooklyn. And today's beautiful early fall weather was the perfect way to mark the first Under the Archway—A Friday of Food and Libations.

Held below the stately Archway under the Manhattan Bridge, the collaboration aims to bring the neighborhood together on common ground. We stopped by to check it out around 1 p.m. and while the booze wasn’t flowing yet (the draft Stoudts Oktoberfest and Sixpoint Crisp began to pour at 3 p.m.), plenty of people were around to scoop up lunch goodies. As if we needed another reason to drink during Craft Beer Week!

Among the vendors showcasing their goods were Brooklyn Oyster Party (fresh oysters, $2.75), Rachel’s Pies, Mile End (smoked peking duck, $10), and Landhaus (bacon on a stick, $3). When we were there, the BLT’s at Landhaus’ and shoofly pie at Rachel’s were drawing the most attention from hungry locals. And no, we aren't telling you about this after the fact to rub it in your faces—the event is set to keep running till 9 p.m.
