Josh Rubin, the owner of the recently opened Whisk Bakery Cafe in Ditmas Park, has been missing for over a week, and the neighborhood is rallying to help find him. Have you seen this man?
Rubin was last seen leaving his apartment on Lawrence Avenue on Monday, October 31, wearing a light colored sweatshirt and jeans. He’s about 6-foot-2, 180 pounds, with a thin build, brown eyes, and brown hair. Ditmas Park Blog has been covering the case extensively, and there seems to be a lot of rumors flying around about what could have happened: the "Find Josh Rubin" Facebook page says that Rubin is a diabetic and may be missing his medication, while the Brooklyn Paper says police are looking into whether Rubin is bipolar or in a "depressed state."
In any event, locals have banded together to distribute flyers across Brooklyn—here's what they look like, and friends are asking for help in canvassing the city (they've even created a Google Map tracking their flyering movements). Anyone with information is asked to call the 70th Precinct’s Detective Squad at (718) 851-5553 or email findjoshrubin@gmail.com.
