So, you've heard all about DeKalb Market Hall, the giant food hall in the basement of City Point, but you haven't been there yet. After all, it's summer, the time to be outdoors. Fortunately for you, Brooklyn Bridge Park's Movies With A View just announced that some vendors from the hall will be slinging snacks at this year's outdoor movies, so you can experience both the outdoors and a highly-touted foodie destination at the same time.
The Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy announced in a press release this week that people will be able to buy grub from DeKalb vendors like Kotti Doner, Steve’s Key Lime Pie, Foragers Sandwiches, and Cake Pops at the weekly movie series this year, which kicks off Thursday, July 6th, with Office Space.
In addition to the food options, for the first time ever, moviegoers will be able to buy beer and wine on offer from Oak Beverages and drink them right on the grass while watching the movie. This new liberty comes at a cost: security will be searching all bags brought into the screening area. So while you can bring your own food in, "outside alcohol" will be tossed at the gates.
The park's booze prohibition is not new, but it has seldom been been proactively enforced during Movies with a View, in our experience. So brace for potentially long lines leading up to the bag check, and prepare to wait on additional lines to purchase officially sanctioned beverages once inside. The music and food starts at 6 p.m., but the lawn fills up fast, so get there as early as possible to lay out a blanket.
