Red is definitely one of Gothamists' favorite colors - especially in wine. Just combine some top-notch red vino with some top-grade red meat and we're ready to kick up our heels at a bonafide Bordeaux and bovine ball.
So, seeing the world through "red-colored glasses," we're sorely tempted to fork over a cool Benjamin to attend the annual “Big Red” culinary spectacular on October 25th at Upper East Side hot spot Guastavino's, hosted by St. Francis Winery & Vineyards, along with the American Institute of Wine & Food.
What do you get for $100 smackaroos? St. Francis' grape offerings, ranging from the winery's solid Sonoma County Merlot and its rich Nuns Canyon Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon to Delaforce 20 Year Old Tawny. And, in the red meat department, New York City steak powerhouses like Maloney & Porcelli, Gallagher’s, Keen's and more will be whipping up tempting plates of gourmet protein to offset alcohol consumption.
Not sure if we'll be able to swing the ticket cost, but Gothamist thinks it just might be worth it to witness the mingling between gourmands and Atkins-fans alone.
