New Yorkers went Cronut-level insane when the DO raw cookie dough shop opened earlier this year, waiting over an hour to devour the allegedly "safe to eat raw" dough. Riding that wave of popularity, another raw cookie dough shop will open in December in Greenwich Village...literally right around the corner from its predecessor.

World’s Best Cookie Dough—which for now is little more than a landing page with a dream—opens later this year at 164 Bleecker Street between Thompson and Sullivan Streets in a 1,369-square-foot space next to fancy chocolatier Li-Lac Chocolates. Expected flavors include Red Velvet, Snicker Doodle, Oatmeal Raison, Peanut Butter, Brownie, and Salted Caramel, with one scoop running $4 and two for $7. Beyond scoops of raw batter, the shop will sell cheesecakes, pudding, milkshakes, and other desserts.

"We're expecting lines down the block when the storefront opens because the cookie dough concept has really taken off in New York City," said one individual involved in negotiating the lease for the shop, attempting to will buzz into existence.

World's Best—and others peddling an alternative to the raw stuff that could send you to the hospital—have purportedly found a way to make raw cookie dough safe by using pasteurized eggs and heat-treated flour. Unfortunately, several people still claimed they got ill after eating the special cookie dough, so maybe mom was right about avoiding the stuff to begin with.
